That's a very interesting topic. These days some people even wear two... as if it changes anything. Your ring is supposed to identify U as being off the dating scene and Ur new new status of being reserved exclusively... that's all. Its not juju that will stop U from doing anything U end up deciding to do.
For Identification purposes, It's entirely necessary, otherwise, it's just a fashion accessory.

wedding ring is a symbol of being married, it wades off prospective lovers. so its good  i think. but some churches dont use it for some personal reasons, nothing wrong in it.
