Former senate president, Bukola Saraki returned to Ilorin, Kwara state today for the first time since leaving Senate.

He was welcomed by the warm embrace of his supporters.

He has been away before the defeat of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 election, by the All Progressives Congress. As his party lost the governorship poll, Saraki also lost his senate seat.

Saraki said he was in town to celebrate the 8th anniversary of his dad, Senator Olusola Saraki and also the 25th anniversary of Emir Sulu Gambari, the Ilorin monarch.

The huge crowd first received the former senate president at the Ilorin International Airport as they form a guard of honour for him to the Emir’s palace.

Shortly afterwards, he left to join prayers for his dad at his family’s GRA residence.

The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Muhammad Bashir led the prayers.

Also present was his younger sister, Senator Gbemisola Saraki, who is the Minister of State for Transport.
