Imo House Assembly aspirant kidnapped

Imo State House of Assembly aspirant for Aboh Mbaise Constituency on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN ), Chief Alan B. Onyemaechi, was yesterday kidnapped by gunmen.

Onyemaechi, a former local government chairman for Aboh Mbaise council area was abducted at the front gate of his factory at Naze Industrial cluster in Owerri North L.G.A at about 8:15am. Daily Sun learnt that the abducted politician ran into the waiting hands of the five-man armed hoodlums, who kidnapped him and took him away in his own car to unknown destination.

According to the sources, the kidnappers, who were dressed in suits ordered the security man who tried to open gate for his master to lie down before they drove away in his ITC branded Toyota Corolla Saloon car marked IM 204 A28.

Daily Sun gathered that Onyemaechi was a strong member of the Alliance for Good Governance, an opposition group in the Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before he defected to the ACN few weeks ago to actualise his political ambition.

It was also reported that the ACN is holding its ward congress through out the state at the time the incident occurred.
A top police officer at the state police command, who plreffered not to be named, confirmed the incident, saying police detectives had commenced investigation.

Reacting to the spate of insecurity in the state, Chief Vitalis Ajumbe, state chairman of All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), cautioned both politicians and civilians to always be careful of who they give out information about their movements. He stated that security of lives and property in the state had been handover to God.
