Four suspects who specialize in stealing vehicles and dismantling them for onward sale as spare parts, have been arrested by the Lagos state police command.

Upon being arrested, the suspects confessed that most of their buyers are spare parts dealers at the popular Ladipo spare part market, in the Mushin area of the state.

Confirming arrest of the suspects identified as Alafia Afiwajuomo, Ganiyu Tajudeen, Olamilekan Hassan and Lucky Esomojumi, Lagos police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin revealed that they were arrested at Igamu under bridge following a painstaking investigation and intelligence gathering launched when information was received.

He said;

“The suspects on September 29, 2022, 29/09/2022, snatched a Toyota Camry at gunpoint from one Sandra (surname withheld) at Iganmu in Surulere, Lagos.

“The car was in the process of being dismantled before it was recovered by the police. Parts of cars suspected to have been dismantled and sold as spare parts were also recovered at the scene”

Explaining how they steal car parts, Ganiyu said;

“We dismantle most of the vehicles snatched from their owners at gunpoint. We call it ‘ngbuka’. We sell these vehicle parts to dealers at Ladipo.”
