It has been revealed that a school in Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory actually lets some pupils sit on the bare floor. According to The PUNCH, a Local Authority School located in Zone 9 in the Lugbe area of Abuja has its pupils sitting on bare floors in their classrooms in order to learn. One of the parents, who has five children in the school, has urged the government to come to the school’s aid as all of his children have to sit on bare floors to learn.
A student of the school simply identified as Ruqayah lamented the lack of computers in the school. The director of Programme and reform education, Ayo Damola Oluwatoyin, asks the government to wake up to its responsibilities, adding that basic education is very important.
