HEROES [season 3] Why did the Precog die?

this is for those who has watched the series, Heroes season 3.

He made his first appearance in season 3 as the Precognitor who resided in Africa, gifted with the ability to paint the future just like Isaac Mendez [season 1](except that the precog. painted on rocks instead of canvas)

He helped Matt Parkman discover the future after he was teleported to his domain.
He also had contact with Hiro Nakamura and his friend Ando where he showed them the future with his weird recipe.

The question is, why didn't he see his own death coming if he is really a precog?

N.B. He was beheaded by Peter Petrelli's father
