Confusion and shock engulfed the Fulani community in the Ogunmakin area of Ogun State on Monday as two friends, Abdullahi Audu and Usman Muhammed, came close to fatally assaulting each other during a dispute over a bottle of soft drink. The PUNCH correspondent learnt on Tuesday that Audu, who was said to have started the trouble, drew out a cutlass and cut off the entire wrist of Muhammad during the heat of the moment.
Seeing that his hand had been cut off, Muhammed was said to have also drawn out a knife and stuck it in Audu’s stomach in what was believed to be a retaliation before people could separate the duo. However, the incident further became uglier when the knife Muhammed stuck in Audu’s abdomen was said to have brought out his (Audu) intestine, leaving both friends grimacing in pain.
Sighting the bloody scuffle between the two friends, the Seriki of Fulani in the community, Alhaji Wakili, was said to have approached the Owode Egba Police Division to report the incident. Meanwhile, PUNCH Metro reports that both victims are currently receiving treatment at one Immaculate Hospital in the community.
Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident, said they had begun an investigation into the matter. “The incident occurred on Monday. We are investigating the matter,” Odutola simply stated via a WhatsApp message on Tuesday.
