Fourteen individuals enrolled at the Academic Institute of Kwara North, in an undisclosed location, have been dismissed from the institution.
Their dismissal stems from accusations of misconduct and complicity in academic irregularities.
A spokesperson for the institution, Kunle Akogun, made this announcement through a press release on the preceding Monday.
In accordance with the contents of the institution's weekly newsletter, disseminated by the Public Information Department of the Academic Institute, the names of nine of the expelled individuals were made public.
"The decision to expel these individuals was ratified by the Vice Chancellor, following recommendations put forth by the Student Conduct Review Board during its 219th session convened on January 10 and 11, 2024," the newsletter stated.
Of those dismissed, seven were in their final year across various academic disciplines, while the remaining two students were at the 300 and 100 levels respectively.
The expelled students comprised individuals such as Latif Lukman Olayemi, a fifth-year student in the Agriculture/Aquaculture and Fisheries program with registration number 17/10AB029, as well as Kuranga Abdulmuiz Olalekan, a fifth-year student in Agriculture/Agricultural Extension and Rural Development with registration number 17/10AC462. Another dismissed student was Ogundijo Abdulmalik Akinkunmi, a senior student in the CIS/Library and Information Science department with registration number 20/52HJ070.
Additionally, among the expelled were individuals like Ashekun Oladiji Quadri, a senior student in the CIS/Telecommunication Science program with registration number 18/52HP025, and Musa Mohammed Asus from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, specializing in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with registration number 16/30GC073. Ahmed Saddam Opeyemi, also from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, was dismissed from the Materials and Metallurgical Engineering program with registration number 18/30GN082. Furthermore, Ayinla JamiuOlaitan, a student in the Faculty of Life Science and a senior in the Zoology department with registration number 17/55EK068, faced expulsion.
Completing the list were Eqwudah Lucky Ojonumba, a junior student in the Faculty of Education, majoring in Education/Adult and Primary Education Studies with registration number 19/25PK049, and Adebisi Janet Bosede, a freshman in the Faculty of Arts, specializing in Linguistics and Nigerian Languages with registration number 21/15CB024.
