A showdown between operatives of the Rivers State Police Command and suspected cultists and kidnappers culminated in the fatal shooting of two individuals in Ogbologbo community, located in Ahoada West Local Government Area of the state.

The deceased were identified as members of a notorious cult faction led by Ikem ThankGod, alias General 2man, who narrowly escaped apprehension during the operation.

According to Superintendent of Police Grace Iringe-Koko, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, General 2man, a close associate of the deceased 2Baba and General Odereke, has been implicated in a string of criminal activities plaguing Ahoada West LGA and neighboring areas.

"General 2man is wanted for various heinous crimes, including multiple murders and kidnappings. His reign of terror has left a trail of bloodshed and fear," remarked Iringe-Koko.

Detailing General 2man's alleged atrocities, Iringe-Koko highlighted incidents such as the brutal killings of four individuals on March 5, 2024, and the callous burial of several victims alive, among other crimes.

In response to community distress calls, police operatives descended on Ogbologbo community to confront the escalating threat of cultism and criminality. However, upon encountering the suspects, a fierce gun battle ensued, resulting in the demise of two suspects.

"ThankGod Uchechi, also known as 'Pastor SP,' and 'Western King' Okpo Emenike, identified as General 2man's second and third-in-command, succumbed to injuries sustained during the exchange of gunfire," Iringe-Koko stated.

Despite General 2man's evasion, the tactical operation recovered two AK-47 rifles and eight magazines from the scene, underscoring the intensity of the confrontation.

Efforts are underway to apprehend General 2man and his fugitive accomplices, with law enforcement agencies vowing to dismantle criminal networks operating in the region.

Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu commended the tactical team's bravery and reaffirmed the police force's unwavering commitment to combatting crime in Rivers State.

The operation serves as a testament to the determination of law enforcement agencies to restore peace and security in communities plagued by criminal activities, promising relief to residents gripped by fear and uncertainty.
