Police Corporal Obagi Njok has been dismissed from the Nigerian Police Force following a disciplinary investigation into the fatal shooting of Aba-based businessman Emmanuel Okocha.

The incident occurred in April 2024, when Okocha, a prominent businessman from Abiriba in Ohafia LGA, was shot by Corporal Njok in Aba, leading to his death. The Abia State Police Command's disciplinary team, which was set up to investigate the matter, found Njok guilty of discreditable conduct, specifically the misuse of firearms.

In a statement, ASP Maureen Chinaka, spokesperson for the Abia State Police Command, confirmed the dismissal: “Police Corporal Obagi Njok (as he was then) was found guilty of discreditable conduct to wit misuse of firearms and has therefore been dismissed from the Nigerian Police Force."

The investigation into the criminal aspects of Njok's conduct has been concluded, and the case has been handed over to the office of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Abia State as of May 24, 2024, for prosecution in court.
