
Armed robbers on Tuesday assassinated a 52-year-old security officer named Abu Haru on a watermelon plantation in Guri Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
Gistmania gathered that the suspects used a bow and arrow to shoot the security guard in the stomach and carted away his valuables.
Confirming the development, Jigawa Police Command’s Spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam said, “On 09/06/2024 at about 0500hrs, a distress call was received that an unknown hoodlum shot a watchman of a watermelon farm situated at Araha Forest, Guri LGA.”
He identified the victim as Abu Haru, 52, of Dingas in the Niger Republic.
He claimed that after receiving the information, the patrol team assigned to the Guri Division hurried to the location and transported the victim to Guri General Hospital.
DSP Shiisu also stated that detectives from Guri Division, acting on credible intelligence, arrested Buba Malam Audu, 22, of Diliyari Fulani settlement, Karikasamma LGA; Usman Hardo Yale, 20, of Kadir Fulani settlement, Guri LGA; and Baba Yakuba, 25, of Diliyari Fulani settlement, in connection with the case.
He stated that three sheep and one keypad cell phone belonging to the victim were also recovered from the accused as evidence.
The case was referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for further investigation.
