Bororoku farmers across various communities in the Delta Central Senatorial District of Delta State have raised the alarm over the constant threats by herdsmen, who endanger their lives, overrun their farmlands, and destroy their crops.

The endangered farmers, who received financed assistance from the Chairman of the Delta State Oil- Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Barrister John Obukowho Nani, to buy fertilizers to boost their yield, called on the state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to stop the attacks on them by prowling herdsmen.

We live in continuous fear of attacks —Oghene, farmer

A farmer, Efe Oghene, said: “We live in perpetual fear of these attacks. Herders destroy our crops and endanger our lives. While Barrister Nani’s support offers hope, the government led by Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori must not forget security.”

Govt should protect us, says Eruemukohwo, farmer

Another farmer, Joy Eruemukohwo, emphasized: “We appreciate the financial aid from Nani, but safety is important too, we urge the government to step in and protect us from these attacks. We are hardworking people who want to farm in peace.”

Our lives in jeopardy— Ovie, farmer

Samuel Ovie, an agrarian, stated emphatically: “This constant fear cannot continue, our farms are our lifelines, and without them, we are nothing. The government must ensure our safety for us to thrive.”

We need security – Akpofure, farmer

Forty-three-year-old agriculturalist, Ejiro Akpofure, stated: “Barrister Nani’s support is a lifeline. It shows us that we are not forgotten, but with government providing security, we can build a brighter future for ourselves and our children.”

Recipients commend Nani

A beneficiary, Madam Precious Akpokoko, from Boboroku community, said: “Barrister Nani has truly provided for us today, and wherever he needs support, God will be there for him.”
One more recipient, Mama Rose Omene added: “We did not expect this kind of support from him, he truly deserves God’s blessings.”

A young farmer, Abonoje David, concurred, saying: “His kindness will be remembered for generations to come.”

Madam Ese Onokeme said: “This money will be a lifesaver during these challenging times. It will allow us to invest in the chemicals needed to improve our yields.”

Mrs. Felicia Omatseye said: “May his farms flourish as he has helped ours to do the same.”

More communities to benefit.

Nani, represented by a former councillor, Blessing Akamugbe, undertook a tour of Onyobru in Idjerhe Kingdom, and other communities to provide farmers with financial assistance to purchase crop-boosting chemicals

The empowerment drive continued in Boboroku (Uduaka, Iduirie), Idjerhe Central sub-clan, and Mosogar kingdom.
A source said Nani has plans to extend his financial assistance to more Delta Central communities in due course.
