The Federal High Court in Lagos has mandated the detention of Alhaji Sulaimon Jimoh, also known as Olowoidiogede or Temo, a suspected drug trafficker, for 14 days. The order comes after Jimoh's arrest by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Lagos's Mushin area on Monday, following years of evading capture.

Justice Akintayo Aluko issued the remand order on Friday, July 26, 2024, in response to an application by the NDLEA seeking further custody for extended investigation.

The court also issued an interim attachment order for a grey 2022 Mercedes Benz SUV GLE 156, registered as 01G-300G, Ogun, and chassis No. 4JGFB4JB9NA622055. The vehicle, believed to be a product of Jimoh's alleged drug trafficking activities, will remain in federal custody pending the outcome of the case.

NDLEA counsel Lambert Nor successfully argued for the remand and vehicle seizure, citing multiple legal provisions including Sections 6 and 44 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and various sections of the NDLEA Act 2004. The application was supported by a 23-paragraph affidavit and a written address detailing Jimoh's high-profile status and history of drug seizures.

In his submission, Nor emphasized the need for legal custody to ensure proper handling of evidence and to prevent any infringement of the suspect's rights. The court granted the NDLEA's request, with Justice Aluko noting the necessity of further investigation.

The matter is set to return to court on August 9, 2024, for a progress report on the investigation.
