President Bola Tinubu is spearheading a significant transformation in Nigeria's health sector, according to Muhammad Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for 10 Medserve oncology and diagnostic centres at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi on Friday, Pate emphasized the president's commitment to improving healthcare across the nation.
"President Tinubu is resolute in his mission to transform this country, and healthcare is a key focus," Pate stated. "In just one year, he has achieved milestones in the health sector that are unprecedented in our nation's history."
The minister highlighted the president's substantial investments aimed at ensuring quality healthcare is accessible to all Nigerians. "The president has launched several initiatives and is building on the work Medserve has started. We're witnessing the start of 10 major infrastructural projects, and within 12 months, they will begin to open across Nigeria," Pate said.
He also mentioned the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority’s (NSIA) role in constructing 6,000 additional centres, with funds already secured to complete them within the next 12 to 18 months.
In addition to infrastructure, Pate noted the retraining of 120,000 frontline health workers as part of the president's initiatives, with 10,000 already retrained nationwide, including in Bauchi.
The minister's remarks underscore President Tinubu's focused efforts to overhaul the health sector, promising a new era of quality service delivery in Nigeria.
