Abdulmumuni Abiola, one of the sons of the late MKO Abiola, has publicly declared his intent to never forgive his older brother Kola due to an ongoing inheritance dispute. In a revealing interview on the ‘Mic On Podcast’ hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, Abdulmumuni accused Kola of withholding the inheritance meant for Abiola’s children, despite conducting blood tests to establish rightful heirs.
Abdulmumuni claims that their father, MKO Abiola, designated £650,000 for his first four wives in his will, but Kola has allegedly refused to release these funds. He explained, “We conducted blood tests to identify the qualifying children, and the will is systematic in naming the wives and allocating the funds to them.”
He specifically mentioned that his mother, Kudirat Olayinka Abiola, was allocated £150,000, but Kola cited her death prior to their father’s as a reason for withholding the money, referencing British law. “Kola argued that because my mum passed away before my dad, the law prevents him from releasing the £150,000 to us,” Abdulmumuni stated.
He further noted Kola's inconsistency regarding the funds allocated to their mothers, highlighting that Kola also claimed he did not receive £300,000 for his deceased mother. “However, he is the one distributing the money, which seems odd,” Abdulmumuni remarked.
Adding to the tension, Abdulmumuni accused Kola of selling their mother’s apartment in the UK without informing any of his siblings. “They were systematic in trying to impoverish my mum’s side of the family, and for that reason, I don’t think I will be able to forgive him,” he concluded.
The public airing of these grievances has drawn attention to the complex dynamics within the Abiola family as they navigate the aftermath of their father's legacy.
