Eyewitnesses reported that the peaceful demonstration was disrupted when law enforcement officials began shooting into the air and deploying tear gas, causing chaos among the crowd. Many protesters fled the scene in panic, and at least two individuals were reportedly arrested.
A source who spoke with SaharaReporters confirmed the arrests, though the identities of those detained remain undisclosed. As of the time of this report, the Nigerian Police Force has not issued an official statement regarding the incident or their actions at the memorial.
