A woman from Harare, Zimbabwe, identified as Munyaradzi and her mother, Ethel Mupoperi, have been embroiled in a family dispute.

Munyaradzi accused her mother of "snatching" her husband and building a life with him in their rural hometown, a situation that unfolded while Munyaradzi was pregnant with her husband's child.

This controversial family affair took center stage at the Harare Civil Court, sparking a heated legal battle between the mother-daughter duo. Munyaradzi claims that her mother’s actions are a deep betrayal, describing her new relationship with her mother as akin to being “co-wives.”

The rift extends beyond the unusual relationship, as Munyaradzi asserts that her mother is now staking a claim to a house she began building with her former husband on land he initially purchased.

Ethel, however, defends herself, alleging that her daughter’s resentment has escalated to verbal and emotional abuse. She told the court that Munyaradzi has demanded her to vacate the property, insisting she is the rightful heir.

The unusual case ended with Magistrate Meenal Naratom granting a peace order in Ethel's favor, allowing her to stay in the property and mandating that her daughter cease all forms of harassment. The scandal has stirred intense online discussion, with many expressing both disbelief and anger over the family turmoil.
