Police in Ogun State have launched a manhunt for a woman accused of fatally injuring 65-year-old Morenike Oladega during a confrontation in the Ipokia area. The tragic incident reportedly occurred on November 21 and was brought to the attention of the authorities by the victim’s son, Ibrahim Oladega.
Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun Police Command, revealed in a statement on Saturday that the altercation began as an argument between the deceased and the suspect, which quickly escalated into a physical fight. During the struggle, the suspect allegedly pushed Oladega, causing her head to strike a wall. She collapsed shortly afterward.
Upon receiving the report, police officers rushed to the scene and found Oladega lying on her back. After documenting the scene, they transported her to the General Hospital in Ipokia, where she was pronounced dead by medical personnel. Her body has since been moved to the hospital morgue in Ilaro for autopsy.
Odutola confirmed that the suspect fled immediately after the incident, prompting an active search by the police. Preliminary investigations are underway, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for further scrutiny.
The Ogun police command is appealing to the public for any information that could aid in the suspect’s apprehension as the investigation continues.
