A man has been remanded at Kirikiri Prison over allegation that he raped his daughter for more than eight years serially, beginning when the victim was just seven years old. The girl is now 15 years.
The 36-year old man, Gbenga Ayodele, who claimed to be an official of Kick Against Indiscipline, KAI, was alleged to have raped the victim at their house at 12, Oseni Street, Okota, Lagos Southwest Nigeria on many occasions before he was finally caught.
Police arrested him after he wanted to have another round of sex with her and the girl refused.
He reportedly took a kitchen knife to stab her, but she ran out of their house naked and shouted for help. This attracted the attention of their neighbours who called in the police that arrested him.
P.M.NEWS gathered from the mother of the victim that Gbenga has been sleeping with their daughter since 2003and when her daughter confided in her the agony she was passing through, she warned her husband but she did not know he continued.
P.M.NEWS gathered that on the day of the incident that led to Gbenga’s arrest, he went to the bed where the girl was sleeping in the afternoon and grabbed her to have sex with her again.
He tore her pant when the girl refused and took a knife to stab her but she escaped from their house naked before neighbours intervened.
Gbenga was arrested and taken to Okota Police Station where he reportedly made a confessional statement of molesting her on several occasions.
He was charged to Isolo magistrate’s court with rape.
Part of the charge reads: “That you Gbenga Ayodele on the same date, time and place did knowingly and unlawfully have carnal knowledge of the victim.”
He pleaded guilty of assaulting her and not guilty on two other charges of rape.
The presiding magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubeinje, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two responsible sureties.
The matter has been adjourned till 31 March 2011, while the defendant has been remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Apapa, Lagos.
I think the mother was as irresponsible as the father because she should have taken steps to ensuring the act was immediately discontinued.....she could have taken her away from the rapist-father's house at least........

Is a taboo. What kind of mother does the girl has? The father deserved to be jailed for 14yrs and not bail of 200.000 naira. the girl is going to be psycologically and medically affected. the mother should be jailed for six months because of her negligence. i wonder the kind of law nigeria operates. may GOD helps the little girl.

...and the girl too left it a little too late. Thank God she doesn't have a baby through him already and I hope she's not preggy.....

its really a sacrillage for such a thing to exist between the father and his daughter, the man should be properly examined because he might have uncomposed medula oblongata, then before nessesary action is taken
