The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, has called on Nigerians to reconsider the growing trend of relocating abroad, emphasizing that the CBN is committed to fostering an environment where individuals and businesses can thrive.
Speaking at a recent event in Lagos, Cardoso advised against selling off assets in a bid to relocate, noting that such decisions could lead to financial losses. "Those who decide to leave may be forced to sell their assets cheaply, which will attract opportunistic buyers from outside, who will profit from the situation," he cautioned.
The CBN Governor further encouraged Nigerians to remain in the country and contribute to its recovery, stressing the importance of collective action in shaping the nation's future. "We need all hands on deck at this critical time," he said. "There are ample opportunities in the market today, with significant interest from foreign investors. Now is the time to be part of the solution and benefit from the eventual turnaround."
Cardoso outlined his vision for a prosperous Nigeria, where every individual, business, and community can flourish. He emphasized that achieving this goal would require collaboration from various stakeholders, including banks, regulators, businesses, and citizens.
"We are building an economy where everyone can succeed, but it requires a united effort to make that a reality," he concluded.
