Tobi Adegboyega, a flamboyant Nigerian pastor and founder of SPAC Nation, has disclosed in court that his partner, Mary Olubukola Alade, funds his high-profile lifestyle. The revelation came during a legal battle with UK immigration authorities, which culminated in an order for his deportation to Nigeria.
The UK Tribunal ruled that Adegboyega, 44, had overstayed his visitor’s visa after arriving in the UK in 2005. Despite his appeal to remain on human rights grounds, the court upheld the deportation order, stating he had no legal basis to remain in the country.
Adegboyega told the court that he lives with Alade, who earns £100,000 annually as an employee of AON, and that she entirely supports him financially. He emphasized that he does not receive a salary from SPAC Nation, dedicating his time to unpaid church work.
“I have a first-class law degree from Nigeria, but I sacrificed my legal career to help those who cannot help themselves,” Adegboyega said. Addressing criticism of his lavish lifestyle, he explained that his designer clothing and luxury cars were funded by Alade and were part of his strategy to inspire young people to pursue legitimate means of success.
“My lifestyle is not about vanity but about showing young people that there are legal ways to succeed, like entrepreneurship,” he argued.
The court acknowledged the pastor’s claims about his lifestyle but maintained that his immigration violations outweighed his contributions.
The case has drawn significant public attention, with some praising Adegboyega’s efforts to mentor youth while others criticized the extravagance and legal controversies surrounding his tenure in the UK.
