The Kogi State political community has been thrown into mourning following the death of Hon. Enema Paul, the immediate past Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly. He passed away early Saturday at a private hospital in Abuja after battling an undisclosed illness.
Hon. Paul, who represented Okura State Constituency in the ongoing 8th Assembly, stepped down from his position as Deputy Speaker due to health issues earlier this year. He was subsequently replaced by Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola of the Ibaji State Constituency.

The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, expressed deep sorrow over Hon. Paul’s demise. In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Yabagi Mohammed, the Speaker described the late lawmaker as a humble, temperate, and committed public servant who was a pillar of unity in the state.
“He exemplified dedication to the unity of our state and the advancement of pro-people legislation for the development of Kogi,” Rt. Hon. Yusuf said.
He further highlighted Hon. Paul’s devotion to family values and his unwavering Christian faith, which transcended religious divides.
