Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from ₦970 to ₦899.50 per litre. This adjustment, effective December 19, 2024, aims to alleviate transportation costs for Nigerians during the festive season.
In addition to the price reduction, Dangote Refinery is offering a special promotion: for every litre purchased on a cash basis, consumers can acquire an additional litre on credit. This credit offer is backed by bank guarantees from Access Bank, First Bank, or Zenith Bank.
Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, emphasized the refinery's commitment to providing Nigerians with premium quality petroleum products that are competitively priced and environmentally friendly. He noted that the refinery's operations signify the end of Nigeria being a dumping ground for substandard imported products, which have posed significant risks to human health, machinery, and the environment.
The Dangote Refinery, with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, is the largest single-train refinery in the world. It is fully capable of meeting 100% of Nigeria's refined petroleum product requirements, with a surplus available for export.
This price reduction comes after the refinery previously lowered the price to ₦970 per litre on November 24, 2024. The current adjustment is designed to ease transport costs during the festive period and provide relief for Nigerians ahead of the holiday season.
