Speed Darlington's lawyer, Stan Alieke, recently expressed frustration over his client's ongoing detention by the Nigeria Police, despite a high court granting him bail.
In a video shared on Instagram, Alieke criticized the police for disregarding the court's order and highlighted the challenges involved in securing Speed Darlington's release.
Additionally, Alieke addressed the backlash from some Nigerians, who suggested that the singer's detention was justified due to his history of attacking the reputations of others.
“Yesterday marked 31 days in detention. People are saying, ‘stop the emotional blackmail, advise your client.’ Let’s move on from that because those arguments are nonsense; this could happen to anyone,” Alieke stated.
He further expressed disappointment over the lack of support from prominent figures, contrasting it with a previous case where Burna Boy stepped in to assist.
“I’ve exhausted my connections; no one wants to help Speed Darlington. The first time he was arrested, Burna Boy showed up with his team and handed out bundles of cash to the police officers,” he revealed.
The prolonged detention raises questions about adherence to legal processes and the challenges faced by individuals in seeking justice.
