Prominent human rights advocate and activist lawyer, Dele Farotimi, has boldly declared his preparedness to face his ongoing legal battle. In a defiant social media post on Sunday, Farotimi expressed unwavering determination to confront his accusers and clear his name.

Farotimi took to X (formerly Twitter), where he shared an impassioned message, emphasizing his readiness for what lies ahead. “I am strong enough to rumble unruffled against principalities and powers, but I am human enough to retain the capacity to shed tears of joy in appreciation of the grace of God, expressed in the concerted efforts of fellow victims,” he wrote.

The lawyer, known for his fearless stance on social justice issues, declared that his “battle axes” have been sharpened and his “guns primed,” signaling his resolve to fight back. Reflecting on the case so far, he added, “My resolve was NEVER tested, but I was waiting for the next round of the fight to commence. I KNEW that the first round had been lost by those responsible for my imprisonment.”

Farotimi’s remarks come weeks after a Chief Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti granted him bail in the sum of N30 million. He had been detained following allegations of defaming Afe Babalola, the respected Senior Advocate of Nigeria and founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD).

The activist’s release was secured after meeting the stringent bail conditions. While the case against him continues, Farotimi’s recent statements suggest he is prepared to vigorously defend his position in court.

The arrest and trial of the outspoken advocate have drawn widespread attention, with supporters hailing his resilience and critics closely monitoring the legal proceedings. As Farotimi gears up for the next phase, the case remains a focal point in discussions surrounding freedom of expression and the balance of power in Nigeria’s legal system.
