The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old suspected kidnapper, Abubakar Musa, for allegedly abducting a two-year-old boy and demanding a ₦50 million ransom for his release.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Thursday. The suspect, a resident of Rijiyar Lemo Quarters, Kano, was apprehended on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024.
According to the police, Musa kidnapped the child, identified as Al’amin Ahmad Garba, and held him for three days in a concealed location at a house in Unguwar Liman, Dorayi Quarters, Kano. Acting on intelligence, officers raided the location, rescued the victim, and arrested the suspect.
The boy was immediately taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. He was later discharged and reunited with his family.
The suspect has since been charged to Magistrate Court Number 25, Nomansland, Kano. SP Kiyawa confirmed that Musa is currently in remand as legal proceedings continue.
The police commended the public for their cooperation and urged citizens to remain vigilant, assuring them of the command’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring public safety.
