The Delta State Police Command has uncovered a dramatic and bizarre case of deceit involving two lovers, Princess and Prince, who staged a fake kidnapping to extort money from the girl’s parents.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the scheme unfolded on 30th December 2024, when Princess visited her boyfriend’s home and devised a plan to fake her own abduction. She instructed Prince to call her parents and demand a ransom of ₦2,000,000.
In a tweet detailing the incident, SP Edafe wrote, “The girl told her boyfriend to call her parents and claim she had been kidnapped.
“He did and demanded ₦2,000,000. The girl’s mother, distraught, reported the case to the command, and we immediately swung into action.”
The police investigation quickly unraveled the duo’s plot, delivering an unexpected twist to Princess’s mother, who was left in shock when the truth emerged.
“Boom ! The mum got the shock of her life. See what children of these days do to their parents,” SP Edafe lamented in his tweet, accompanied by crying emojis to underscore the emotional impact of the case.
The duo are now in police custody as investigations continue.
The Delta State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to tackling criminal activities while urging parents to instill strong moral values in their children to prevent such incidents.
