A Nigerian woman has taken to social media to seek justice after allegedly being assaulted by four police officers in Rivers State.
In a video shared on the platform X (formerly Twitter), the distraught woman recounted her ordeal, claiming that the officers, traveling in a white Hilux vehicle, stopped her on the road without any apparent reason and subjected her to brutal treatment.
The incident reportedly escalated when one of the officers shone a torchlight directly into her eyes. She said she politely requested that the officer lower the light as it was causing her discomfort. However, her request allegedly provoked the officers, leading to a violent attack.
“Rivers State Police, come and see what the policemen did to me. It happened tonight,” she narrated in the video. “There were four of them in a white Hilux. They slapped me and asked me to get out of the car. When I asked the officer to lower the torchlight flashing in my eyes, they started beating me.”
Displaying her injuries, she added, “Look at my ear; they hit me, and my earrings are missing. The pain is unbearable. I begged and shouted for help, but it was night, and I couldn’t record them. I did nothing wrong. I don’t smoke or drink. I was just passing when they stopped me.”
The woman explained that the officers claimed they wanted to search her but instead began slapping and beating her. She emphasized that she had not committed any offense to warrant such treatment.
As the video gained attention, it sparked outrage online, with many users condemning the alleged actions of the police officers and demanding an investigation.
The Rivers State Police Command has not yet issued a statement regarding the allegations. However, calls for accountability and justice continue to grow as the incident highlights ongoing concerns about police conduct in the region.
