A man wanted for the gruesome murder of his girlfriend, Augusta, in 2023, has reportedly evaded justice after bribing his way out of custody and now lives a luxurious lifestyle in Qatar.*
Benjamin Killaboi, formerly known as Benjamin Best Nnanyereugo, was involved in a violent altercation with his girlfriend Augusta that tragically ended in her death. After fatally stabbing Augusta, he hid her body in his home and deceitfully used her mobile phone to send messages to her family, pretending she was still alive.
After the police launched a manhunt for him, Benjamin fled Nigeria and traveled to Sierra Leone, where he allegedly purchased a new passport for $25,000 and changed his identity to Kanu Princeton. Despite being tracked down by Augusta's brother, Heze, and arrested in Sierra Leone in October 2023, Benjamin was later handed over to Nigerian authorities.
However, Benjamin managed to bribe his way out of police custody in Nigeria, evading the legal system once again. He swiftly fled the country and has been living in Qatar, where he is now openly flaunting his wealth and luxury lifestyle on social media, leaving those seeking justice for Augusta frustrated and heartbroken.
This case has raised concerns about the challenges in holding individuals accountable for serious crimes, with many calling for greater efforts to ensure fugitives are brought to justice, regardless of their means or location.
