Adamawa State Police have arrested Riyanatu Musa, a woman known for her involvement in sex work, after she allegedly stabbed a barman, Yohanna Musa, to death over a N200 change dispute in Mubi South Local Government Area.
The incident occurred after Riyanatu Musa, who had purchased two alcoholic drinks, including a popular dry gin called ‘Big Ben,’ failed to settle the N200 balance owed to the victim. According to police reports, Musa had paid N1,500 for the drinks but promised to pay the remaining balance the next day.
The disagreement escalated when Yohanna Musa, the barman, demanded the outstanding N200. In the heat of the argument, Riyanatu reportedly became enraged and, in a fit of anger, stabbed the barman in the chest with a knife, fatally injuring him.
Riyanatu confessed to the crime during police questioning, explaining that the dispute was purely about the outstanding balance and was not fueled by alcohol consumption, as she had not consumed any drinks that day. The police have launched a full investigation into the incident, while Riyanatu remains in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
