
Controversial crossdresser Bobrisky has publicly called for the release of entertainer Speed Darlington, urging Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy to show mercy and facilitate his freedom. In a series of emotional Instagram posts on Sunday, Bobrisky expressed concern over Speed Darlington’s well-being in prison and called for a more lenient punishment for the rapper, who has already served 45 days behind bars.
Bobrisky highlighted the harsh realities of prison life, suggesting that Speed Darlington likely couldn’t afford the more comfortable accommodations available to wealthier inmates.
The appeal comes amidst a complex relationship between the two entertainers. Bobrisky acknowledged his own history of controversy but defended Speed Darlington, saying,
Bobrisky also directed his remarks at Speed Darlington’s fans, criticizing them for encouraging the rapper’s controversial behavior in the past.
Speed Darlington, whose real name is Darlington Okoye, was arrested in October 2024 on charges of defamation and cyberstalking Burna Boy. The arrest followed a series of public disputes between the two entertainers. Initially detained in Lagos, he was later transferred to Abuja, where he was held by the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team.
After being released, Speed Darlington was re-arrested in November 2024 during a performance in Owerri, just days after returning from an overseas trip. The case continues to unfold, with Bobrisky's public plea adding a new layer of drama to the ongoing saga.
