Tragedy struck along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway on Saturday when two people lost their lives, and one other sustained injuries in a fatal road accident.
The incident, which occurred around 3:27 p.m. at the Age-Mowo axis, involved a Toyota Matrix car (KSF 235 JE) and an unregistered Bajaj Tricycle.
William Manga, the Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed the details to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Badagry. According to Manga, FRSC personnel were notified at 3:30 p.m. and arrived at the scene just six minutes later, at 3:36 p.m.
"Two of the three occupants in the tricycle died instantly, while one sustained injuries," Manga said. The FRSC commander attributed the cause of the crash to dangerous overtaking, which led to a head-on collision between the two vehicles.
The injured individual was promptly transported to the General Hospital in Badagry for medical care, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the hospital's mortuary.
Manga urged drivers using the Lagos-Badagry Expressway to exercise caution, emphasizing the need to obey traffic regulations to prevent further tragedies on the often-congested one-lane road.
