Kidnappers in Anambra State have defied Governor Chukwuma Soludo by abducting a man just 48 hours after the launch of the state’s new security initiative, Operation Udo ga achi.
The incident occurred in Aku village, Ezinifitte, within the Aguata Local Government Area of the state.
According to a relative of the victim, the abduction took place around 11 p.m. on Sunday. The kidnappers reportedly drove the man around in his own vehicle while negotiating a ransom. He was eventually released early Monday morning, at approximately 7 a.m.
“The kidnapped victim has thankfully been released this morning, but not without a heavy cost,” the cousin shared. “His entire bank account was drained via a POS transaction linked to a MoniePoint account. I deeply appreciate all your prayers, messages, and offers of help during this difficult time. Your support means so much.”
Although the exact ransom amount was not disclosed, the relative expressed a need for assistance in recovering the funds taken through the fraudulent POS transaction.
The Anambra State Police Command has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
