
A young woman has tragically lost her life after falling into a well in Danbare, Kumbotso local government area of Kano State on Friday, January 24.
The incident was confirmed by the Kano State Fire Service, which issued a statement regarding the unfortunate event. According to the statement, the fire service was alerted at 9:24 AM by a local resident, Bashir Salisu, who reported the fall.
In response, an emergency rescue team was dispatched from the state headquarters and arrived at the scene at approximately 9:32 AM.
The victim, who had been struggling with anxiety and mental health issues, was found unconscious at the bottom of the well. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead by her family after being pulled from the well.
Kano State Fire Service Public Relations Officer, Assistant Chief Fire Officer Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, confirmed that the body of the deceased woman had been handed over to the ward head of Danbare, Magaji Kasim.
“The cause of the incident is under investigation,” Abdullahi added, as authorities continue to look into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
Local residents have expressed shock and sorrow over the loss, while mental health advocates are calling for greater awareness and support for individuals facing mental health challenges in the community.
