Some of the Nigerians evacuated from Libya in the wake of the ongoing unrest in the North African country said yesterday that they “would rather live in Libya than in Nigeria” because they are better off there. The returnees, who told Daily Trust that they have three different names – the one they use in Libya, the one they have on their passports and the one they were known by before going to Libya – gave their names as Muhammad Ibrahim and Ibrahim. They both hail from Abia State.

They said, “The living condition in Libya is better than what you have in Nigeria. Life is cheap and the level of security is quite fantastic. After the crisis, we would be ready to go back (to Libya).”

Some however said that they found themselves in Libya on their way to Europe. They have variously spent between four and 17 years in Libya.

One of the returnees, the professional boxer Bash Ali, who said he was in Tripoli for medical treatment, commended the Federal Government for the evacuation exercise and the courteous and speedy response of the concerned agencies.

“I am proud to be a Nigerian… I am proud of this encouraging exercise. Home is home… and home is sweet. Nothing is more comforting than to be among your people at home,” Bash Ali said. He said as an African, he was not happy at the turn of events in Libya, saying that the crisis was caused by bad advisers rather than by a single individual.

Sources at the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) also told Daily Trust that 80% of Nigerians living in Libya hail from Imo, Anambra, Edo, Abia and Delta states.

As long as I agree that Nigeria is a failed country to her citizens
I will not agree that Libya is better than Nigeria...If they think so
then they should go back there and leave us alone

The only different between Libya and nigeria is that Nigeria is a democratic nation, apart from that Libya is far far better, as u can see, they were forced to come back, they didnt want to return. They use what they have accordingly and their government make sure there is enough for the citizens, no suffering, the only problem is that one president as been there for more than 40years.

Popo2009, they are not holding u ooh. I don't blame them. They found life and comfort in Libya, why won't they love to stay there. My Life got better when I left Nigeria, but I am still proud to be a Nigerian. I searched for a good Job my whole life but I knew no body, so I couldn't get one but here (not in Lybya  though) I did not need someone to fix me up. As long as u are qualified, u will get it. now am doing alright.

why returning to nigeria ? since you know you prefares the life in libya to that of nigeria , group of ungreateful useless acclaimed citizen of nigeria , i am directing my msg to those who hold the view that they prefare the life in about to colapse country called libya, and not the good ones amongs the returnees, i think the authority should investigates very thoroughly those that claimed they have three difference names, those are the criminals from ABIA tarnishing the images of nigeria world wide , why not each and every one of them beares their fathers name ? why mohammed ibrahim , and ibrahim to disguised as a muslim ? libya is not an islamic republic ,and even if its so , there are so many non muslim working and living there very peacefully , even in a country like SAUDI ARABIA which is purely a muslim country , they do have a non muslim working and living in almost all their towns and cities except in their two holiest cities of MAKKAH and MADINAH,
why should that of nigeria be so difference , except for the bad ones in our midst, if they spoils them selves , they should not try to tarnished the image of all of us , expecially the good ones amongs us

You can't compare Nigeria with Libya coz there's absolutely no comparison....Libya standard of living is far better than Nigeria,no question about that.we should

say the truth when we see one..there's no area you can point out that Nigeria is better than Libya.....Is it so-called Democracy huh?Nigeria is no different from

Libya in that area, coz what we have is a recycle system of government...Basic standard of living, Libya win hands down!..Healthcare system, Libya win!...

Education system Libya win...Social system, Libya win hands down,we don't even have that in Nigeria. Giant of africa for where huh?

ONLY IN CRIME,BRIBE AND CORRUPTION...

is very funny how people view life ones they are out from a critical situation. thanks to the present adminstration that rescued them from the lions mouth. instead of appreciating what they have and coming home ,which many of them cant afford to fly on their own and have being frustrated for years in libya.
lets them go back if they think libya is better and maybe would have stayed their. good or bad. naija is home.
