A Senior Magistrate Court in Bosso, Niger State, has sentenced 44-year-old Abdulmutalib Abdullahi to two years in a correctional center without the option of a fine.

This conviction comes after Abdullahi pleaded guilty to three counts of criminal trespass, intimidation and theft.

The First Information Report, FIR, presented by the Bosso Divisional Police Command revealed that Abdullahi had only just completed a jail term in January for a similar offense.

According to the police prosecutor, Sgt. Angela Jah, Abdullahi broke into the residence of Mohammed Mohammed Shaba, making off with valuable items including a HP laptop worth N500,000, Samsung Galaxy 59 phone, and other electronics.

The charges are punishable under sections 288, 349, and 397 of the penal code law.

Presiding Senior Magistrate Evelyn Christopher Auta giving her ruling noted that Abdullahi’s history of similar crimes warranted the sentence as he has remained unrepentant, and that he needed to be removed from the community.

Magistrate Auta averred that having read through the FIR and it was stated that the convict just completed a jail term on a similar offence, she is sentencing him to two years in correctional custody without an option of fine to serve as deterrent to others.
