Atiku Abubakar Isah, a self-proclaimed president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has publicly apologized to Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, for making false allegations against him.

In a viral video, Isah had previously claimed that Seyi Tinubu and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ayodele Olawande, offered him a ₦100 million bribe to support President Tinubu, and that he was abducted and assaulted after rejecting the offer.

However, in a statement shared on his Facebook page, Isah retracted these claims, stating they were untrue and attributing them to misinformation provided by Ladoja Olusola, a rival NANS faction leader .

Isah admitted that his earlier assertions were based on false information and apologized to President Tinubu, Seyi Tinubu, and others affected by his statements. He expressed regret for his actions and acknowledged that he was misled by political opportunists seeking to damage the reputation of the Tinubu family .

The apology has elicited mixed reactions. Some NANS officials, like Public Relations Officer Samson Ajasa, criticized Isah for shifting blame and questioned the credibility of his retraction, especially given his previous opposition to Ladoja Olusola . Meanwhile, reports from SaharaReporters suggest that Isah may have been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) and coerced into recanting his allegations, though these claims remain unverified .

Seyi Tinubu had denied any involvement in the alleged incidents, stating that he does not know Isah and has never met him. Observers have noted that the allegations against Seyi Tinubu appear inconsistent with his known character and philanthropic activities .
