A Nigerian teacher, John Felix Obuighkem, has expressed outrage and disbelief after receiving a shockingly low score in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), despite being an experienced educator in the subject.
Obuighkem, who holds a university degree in biology and has spent nearly two decades teaching the subject, took to Facebook to vent his frustration after scoring just 37 in biology—a subject he expected to ace with ease.
In his post, he appealed directly to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, to investigate and review his result, insisting the score did not reflect his knowledge or performance.
“Anyone who knows me will tell you this is impossible,” he wrote passionately.
Obuighkem recounted that he was confident during the exam and was particularly surprised at his poor showing in English, where he said he only struggled with one comprehension question. His plea has since gained traction online, sparking debate over JAMB’s grading process and the accuracy of results released this year.
The teacher’s post has ignited a flurry of reactions, with some users sympathizing and urging a review, while others suggested he apply for a remark through official channels. As calls grow for clarity, JAMB is yet to issue a formal response to the complaint.
