My dear it is true and it is an accaint an old tradittion but now we are living in a modern word and every Igbo girl is allow to marry any were in this word and if the parent dons`t allow that it is a personal thing. Reply

i totally disagree with that. i am equally Replyfrom middle belt and happily married to an ibo lady who is the first daughter of her family. Well initially it was some how hard to convince her mother until her father step in. Her father once stays in abuja & is use to our culture. I dont think its a law or tradition, its depend on individual differences.

its true some ibo families still have this notion.a friend of mine dated an ibo girl for 13yrs and d parents still stand that he is not an ibo man so he wont marry their daughter . it might be they feel the man's financial statues aint what d expect for their daughter or just ibo ideology .my dear it exist just pray and see how it goes. Poster, I have to be frank with you........I was told that in the olden days, 1st daughters were not allowed to marry far away, not just outside the tribe, but far away from home......but today anyone (including 1st Igbo daughters)can marry as far as she wants. My advice to you is to believe your woman, becos I believe she knows her parents better than anyone else. No double-dating, becos that wont help matters. And if you arent convinced yet, you could at least show your face in your woman's home to feel the pulse of her people, that would give you a candid idea of what to expect. Good luck to you!
