I am reading this book, Primary Purpose: Making It Hard for People to Go to Hell From Your City

What is interesting is that I visited the city that is talked about in the book, long before I ever heard of the book.  There was a definite difference in the atmosphere and it was very positive.  I learned of the book when a pastor from the Levite tribe gave a testimony at my church a few years ago.  He shared about a city in Jerusalem with a not so good reputation and how it was transformed by God.  He shared that after reading the book, he decided to put it into action for his city. Though, not an overnight process...the city has positively changed.  And, I have witnessed a difference in the other city myself.

So, I thought of my ancestral home which I hold dear...Nigeria, the giant of Africa.

Why couldn't Christians no matter where they are, pick a different cities, countries in Africa and pray for it?  There are people of God all over already doing it and we can join them.

(KJV) James 5:16 reads:  Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed.  The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Let us please:

1.  Start with Lagos, Nigeria and we all pray for the city, men, women, boys, girls, marriages, families, school teachers, city officials, politicians, government, etc. for 31 days.  Posting our prayers, scriptures, praise reports, prayer requests, testimonies, blessings, etc.

2.  After 31 days, anyone can post a country, city, state in Africa  and the number of days they wish us all to join in prayer.  We don't have to stop prayer for the previous, we can also just add new country, cities and states for prayer.

3.  Those in the city, in groups of two or more, if they wish can take prayer walks.  Just walking around the city and praying for people you see, those who live in the homes you pass, work in the buildings you pass, etc.  It can be done at different times of the day, with those being made aware or unaware.   While also commanding evil spirits to go in Jesus name.

4.  Those in the city may share praise reports, positive stories, and stories how kindness is being passed forward, etc.

5.  Everyone can add the country, city, state to their own church home prayer list

6.  Add to home church prayer meeting list or start a prayer meeting in your area

7.  Remain in God's word and ensure to fast pray and fast

It's very important that one:

Know that they are a Christian...must be born again

Do not go on prayer walks alone...Jesus sent his disciples out with one other or more but not alone.

Spiritual Warfare is very real.  In the book, it shares that spiritual warfare also takes place when:

-we tell the truth instead of a lie

-we choose to stay faithful to our husband/wife

-we protect our children

-we encourage instead of judge

-we smile instead of frown

-we treat people with respect

-we serve instead of control

Goals in spiritual warfare is to be the light that brings others to Jesus Christ, thus stimulating the activity of the Holy Spirit and hindering the work of satan.  Also shared is Lifestyle warfare which does four things:

1.  Provides opportunity for the ministry

2.  Blocks satanic opportunity

3.  Earns us the right to be heard in the non-Christian community

4.  Makes it hard to go to hell from our cities (T.H. page 106, 107)

Dear Heavenly Father, we stand together in prayer to uplift your name and no other.  We thank and praise  you for all you have done for us, in Jesus name.  We praise you  for your love, strength, endurance and protection upon your people in Jesus name.  Every plan of the enemy concerning any of us is spoiled and destroyed in Jesus powerful name!  Great I Am, please continue to bless your people and that they remain encouraged in Lagos, Nigeria.  We lift up our brothers and sisters in Christ in prayer and stand with them.  Please bless the families, schools, orphanages, government officials and those in the hospitals in Lagos, Nigeria.  Those that do not know you, we pray a true believer cross their path and they come to know you, in Jesus name.  We thank and praise you for hearing our prayers and answering our prayers...in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, amen!  Highest praises to you Jehovah.

Please, if anyone has any suggestions or anything they would like to add, please feel free....God bless always

(NLT)  James 5:16 reads:  Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.  The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results.

The weapons of my warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.  (2 Cor. 10:4)

I tread upon serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt me. (Luke 10:19)

I am redeemed from the curse of the law.  I am redeemed from poverty.  I am redeemed from sickness.  I am redeemed from spiritual death.  (Gal. 3:13)

I break and disannul all ungodly covenants, oaths, and pledges I have made with my lips in the name of Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We thank you for blessing us to see another day.  We thank you for providing for us food, cloth and shelter.  We thank you for blessing us spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally and financially in Jesus name, amen.  Please continue to bless our family and friends home and abroad.  Bless our brothers and sisters in Christ all over the world.  You are a marvelous God and there is no one like you.  Every plan of the enemy is spoiled and destroyed in Jesus' magnificent name, amen.

Lord, we come before you regarding the lawmakers of Lagos.  Those that are yours, may they remain ever strong and stand on your word with your love and protection surrounding them, in Jesus name.  Those who are not, let it never leave their minds what the people of Lagos state chose them to do.  Any and all actions they intend to make based on selfish and greedy motives, let them be spoiled in Jesus name, amen.  We pray that the final result benefit all in Lagos, not just the lawmakers and their families and that the final result be upheld by all.  We place a hedge of protection around all those that stand on your word in the glorious name of Jesus Christ our Lord.  Father God, we that you for hearing and answering our prayers in Jesus' holy name, amen!

God says that as long as were here, time, seed and harvest will remain.  Whatever one plants that same kind is what will be harvested and eaten.  One can not plant apples and get bananas.  So, if one plants good, good is what they''ll harvest and eat.  If one plants bad, bad is what they'll harvest and eat.

Proverbs 13:3 says, Good people enjoy the positive results of their words, but those who are treacherous crave violence.

Father God,

All glory and praise goes to you for only you are worthy to be praised.  We thank you for watching over us as we slept through the night and for waking us up to see another day.  We thank you for the many blessings you put in our lives, we are grateful.  Jehovah... El Shaddai you are so wonderful.  We thank you for forgiving our sins.  Search our hearts and whatever is not suppose to be there, Lord, please remove it.  Today Lord, we stand in the gap for all who are struggling in one way on another.  Where ever they are, who ever they are, we pray that your arms of love and protection be felt around them, in Jesus name.  Especially, the little ones who are so very innocent.  We pray that their physical, emotional and spiritual needs be met in an amazing way, so that you alone receive the honor and praise.  Let all those who are yours in Lagos, and who have not and are able, reach out and give to those in need with no strings attached.  How can we as your people see someone in need and know we are able to help but do not?  Let every yoke of bondage be destroyed in Jesus name, amen.  Let the fruits of the Spirit ( Gal. 5:22) be magnified...love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, this day and everyday forward in Jesus glorious name, amen.

Proverbs 21:13 says, Those who shut their ears to the cries of the poor will be ignored in their own time of need.

Proverbs 21:27 says, God loathes the sacrafice of an evil person, especially when it is brought with ulterior motives.

Proverbs 25:18 says, Telling lies about others is as shameful as hitting them with an ax, wounding them with a sword, or shooting them with a sharp arrow.

Proverbs 29:24 says, If you assist a thief, you are only hurting yourself.  You will be punished if you report the crime, but you will be cursed if you don't.

It's Independence Day/4th of July in the USA.  I re-listened to a Father's Day message from my home church in the US today and thought I'd share it with all of you.  Message title is:  Courage

It's my hope that the message encourages others as it has encouraged me.********

It starts by sharing that we are not suppose to take example from the world but from God.

A father's influence on a family should Never be taken for granted.  As well, a man's relationship with God impacts a family and a society.  Unfortunately, many men have turned to cowardess rather than courageous.  When men neglect their duties, it affects a nation.  The USA was given as an example, and how it can't bear the price of fatherlessness.  So many growing up without fathers in the home...nothing but cowardessness on the part of many men.  If there is going to be a change in the US or anywhere, men take a stance in your home.  Step up, speak out and stand up for your home.

It's true that men have all kinds of hang ups, problems, etc. (we all do), but how can they get over the cowardessness to be the man, husband, father Gods calls them to be?

Gideon's Story (Judges 6:11- >)

As God called Gideon a mighty man of valor/a mighty hero, God looks to fathers and calls them mighty men of valor also. But God looks to and deals with our unbelief before He can bring us to where we need to be.  Unbelief keeps a father from seeing what God has already placed within him.  Gideon had to deal with obstacles in his life to be the man of all time.

Pastor shared that sometimes, we shy away from what God has called us to do because our lives do not match the proclaimation.  THIS IS A MESSAGE OF HOPE!

No matter what you are going through, God's word has the power to step in and take you where you need to be.

Pastor shared the testimony of Greg Laurie, who has a Christian ministry.  Greg's son died tragically 3yrs. ago and Greg almost left the ministry.  A quote (from warren wernsby?) helped which says:

"We live according to God's promises and not his explainations".

God's ways are not our ways.  Some of us have been pouting and walking in unbelief for years because God hasn't explained one thing or another.  But it would be like explaining calculus to a toddler, WE WILL NEVER understand God's ways.

God says to live by faith because there are somethings we will never understand, but we are to trust HIM and he will bring us through.

>>>>>>>>part 2 next time<<<<<<

Great God, we thank you for your continued blessings upon us, we received them and we are so very grateful.  Let our hearts be touched by the things that concern you, the things that matter to you.  Let us renew our mind and meditate upon your words which are life.  Let us hear what you speak to our heart, each and everyone of us.  Let us obey and take action, no matter where we are...in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Have you prayed for your house?

Yes, I have prayed for my house and continue to pray for my house.  Thank you for your concern.  We need prayers all the time and prayers offered to Father God, the maker of heaven, earth and mankind are so welcome in Jesus name.

Psalm 18:1-2 reads, I love you, Lord, you are my strength.  The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.  He is my shield, the strength of my salvation and my stronghold.

God bless you

Part 2 - Gideon's Story

Judges 6:12 says, The angel of the Lord appeared to him {Gideon} and said, "Mighty man of valor, the Lord is with you!"

Gideon was a mighty man of valor/mighty hero because God was with him.

******************************************************************************************************
Gideon began looking at himself instead of looking at WHO was with him {God}.
******************************************************************************************************

Pastor said that, fathers our faith must rest not on who we are...cars, clothes, house, bank account, segxwal prowess, to get to the real.  We have everything we need when God is with us.

Because God is with you, you are not like everybody else.  You are not like everybody else!  Stop thinking that you're just like everybody else...this is what the devil wants you to believe and what unbelief says.  BUT, you are different.  You are a child of the King...You live in another kingdom from the world; you're different because you belong to God; and you are different because of God's promises not according to who you are.

Pastor says he is studying the book of Ezekiel and referred to Ezekiel 25:8-9.  When men run away from their households and tell God there is nothing he can do there...they are in essence doing what the people of Moab did and is calling God a liar.

We are to say:  I AM NOT LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE BECAUSE OF THE PROMISES GOD HAS SPOKEN OVER MY LIFE!  A father's role is ordained by God.

(Verse 12) We also say what Gideon said...If the Lord is with me, how come all this is happening to me and where are all the miracles?

But Gideon forgot that they were where they were at, which was captured by the Midianites because of THEIR OWN SIN.  We do the same amazingly, we blame God for things we do to ourselves.  Gideon said to himself that God can't be with him because of his current situation and he started looking at in his family.  His clan was the weakest tribe of Manasseh and Gideon was the smallest of his clan.

Verse 14 says, Then the Lord turned to him {Gideon} and said, "Go with the strength you have and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I am sending you!"

God has given us the strength to do it, whatever he calls us to do.  But unbelief will keep us stagnant and paralyzed.

God's strength is perfected in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says, Each time he said {Jesus}, "My gracious favor is all you need.  My power works best in your weakness." So now I {Paul} am glad to boast about my weakness, so that the power of Christ may work through me.  Some people hate this because they want to think that they contributed something which is false humility. God reminds us that it's not about us but all about Him.

Pastor now asked.... Are you trusting God?

God's strength is perfected when we realize we can not do it on our own.

In verse 14, Gideon is told to GO in strength.  We are to access what God says and has for us through FAITH.  Philippians 4:13 says, For I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need.

Remember, we can't go apart from God.  Gideon transported from a place of cowardessness to a place of courage.

Pastor says that before Gideon transported from a place of cowardessness to a place of courage there was some he HAD to do, something he had to address.  In fact, not some but ALL MEN have address.  It is something that ALL MEN have to do.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>final part 3 next time<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Gracious Father, thank you for being ever patient with us and merciful.  Thank you for loving us as you do and for giving us everything we could ever need.  You are the alpha and the omega...and there is no other apart from you.  We receive the strength that you have given to us, to do the things you have called us to do, in Jesus name.  Let our eyes and our focus remain on you, not the praises of men or any other thing.  Let those of us who are yours boldly be the light you've chosen us to be, so that those in the dark can see their way to you Lord Jesus before time runs out.  You're coming is near and it is our desire to be where you want us to be, doing what you want us to do.  We are covered in the blood of Jesus, amen.  We release the power and authority of the Lord against all demons we encounter in Jesus name, forever Lord of Lords and King of Kings, amen.

Gideon's Story final part 3-final

Pastor says the thing Gideon had to address, that something that Gideon had to do was

TEAR DOWN HIS DADDY'S IDOLS

That something that ALL MEN must address, ALL have to do ...not just men, it does apply to all of us... we have to tear down our father's idols.

Judges 6, verse 24 says, And Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and named it, "The Lord Is Peace."  The altar remains in Ophrah in the land of the clan of Abiezer to this day.

*******************************************************************************************************
Our father's have passed many things down to us.  A lot of good things but some things that were passed down are not good and we must address them.
*******************************************************************************************************

Verse 25, That night the Lord said to Gideon, "Take the second best bull from your father's herd, the one that is seven years old.  Pull down your father's altar to Baal, and cut down the Asherah pole standing beside it.

Gideon built a NEW altar unto the Lord and named it The Lord is Peace, then he tore down the OLD altar that his father built to Baal.  He was afraid to tear down the old altar during the day, so Gideon waited to do it at night BUT Gideon did it.  The next day, all were asking who tore down the altar of Baal, which was a pagan god who they sacrificed even children to.  It was discovered that it was Gideon and they wanted to kill him.

>>>>>>>>>>Know, please know that when you began to tear down the idols, the idols of this world...the world is not going to be happy with you>>>>>>>>>

But Gideon was obedient.

Pastor asked, do you know why Gideon was able to tear down the old altar?

BECAUSE he had built a new altar.  The altar of PEACE.

UNTIL WE HAVE PEACE WITH GOD, WE WILL NOT TEAR DOWN THE OLD ALTAR (we'll let it stand).  We have to have peace with God through faith in Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is the Peace and He came and died for our sins.  Pastor shared the scripture Hebrew 1:1-3.  And says that sin has caused enmity/offense/war between us and God.  God is Holy...how can we, in a state of sin, have a relationship or peace with God?  It is only through Jesus Christ.  Jesus is our peace.

Pastor asked, do you first have peace with God or are you worshiping at the altar of your father?

If you are going to be different and change the route of your family tree, you have to FIRST get right with GOD.  Have peace with God.  Those altars have to come down.

We can not serve two masters, we will love one and hate the other.  There are some who are more in love with the worship of baal/demonic worship, then with the peace of God...and a right relationship with God.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
And, it's not just a one time deal...it's everyday that we have to deal with the idols of this world and tear them down.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Ask yourself...Am I right with God?  Have I confessed my sins?  Have I asked God to help me?  OR, am I pretending that it's someone else's fault, being covetess, rude, selfish, proud, bitter, manipulative, etc....abusing innocent people everyday?  The altars have to go....put your faith in God.

>>>PURSUE FAITH AND PEACE & GOD WILL DO THE REST<<<

We are not going to be perfect.  Pastor shared that the essence of David;s heart was that he wanted faith and peace from God.  David sinned more than King Saul, and God cut Saul off and kept David who was a womanizer, an adulterer and a murderer.  Yet, David was know as a man after God's own heart. HOW?

----Because Saul never truly trusted in God and he loved the praise of men.

------David said, take not your Holy Spirit from me, I've got to have you "God".

That's a man of courage,  David was a flawed man but a man after God's own heart.  We should also say....I've got to have God...I've got to continue to walk by faith.  I may stumble, I may have to get up 7 times in a day but I'm going to keep pressing on to God because I've got to have HIM.

This is what our family's want....not for the man to be perfect but a courageous, godly man.  An ordinary man that serves an extraordinary God!

>>>>>>*******It all starts with the right relationship with God********<<<<<<<<

It's not anything else...it's not your wife (husband), children, job, no job, bad choices, etc.  IT IS your relationship with God that matters.  ARE YOU AT PEACE WITH GOD?

Have you asked Christ to come into your life and be the Lord and Savior?

Dear Lord Jesus,

I believe you are the son of God. Forgive me of my sins, come into my life...I want to change.  I surrender my life to you today.  Thank you for changing me....thank you for saving me, in Jesus name, amen.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>    Glory to God!!!!!!!    <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

If you read this prayer and accept God's free gift of life in Jesus Christ...you are now a new creation!  All of heaven is rejoicing for YOU... praise to God!!!  If you have a church you've been attending share your new life with them.  If you don't have a church home yet, I pray you find one soonest in Jesus name and begin to read the Bible (KJV or King James Version), starting with the book of John.  It is a good idea to try and find a Bible printed in the 1980's or earlier.  Please feel very free to email me as well.  God's continued blessings always.

On this 7th day of July, let
us stand in the gap and pray for all the ones standing firm for justice.  Great God may they all rest in your strength where ever they are.  May your love, peace, joy, endurance and protection continue to be upon them now and forver more, in Jesus name, amen.  Jehovah, all people of Lagos, in fact all Nigerians should benefit from the country's resources, not just a few.  Let those ones be moved out of the way that don't see if from your point of view, in Jesus name.  God...let us always remember that you alone are the standard, not man!  Those who work to be paid, trusting that they are going to be paid, should be paid-full stop.  Those who fight the right way to make it to the univerisity to get an education for their future, who study and work hard, should get their deserving marks.  Those educators who are dedicated to preparing the youth, who are the future of Nigeria, should receive their entitled compensation.  Those who work in a company and do a good job should receive no immoral demands tied to their job.  Those who have protected and served the country well should not be forgotten.  May the needs of orphans and widows be miraculously provided for.  Bless the littles ones.  Bless the innocent.  God, we love you with all our heart.  We thank you for always being there for us and we thank you for answering our prayers..in the magnifiscent name of Jesus name, amen.

While writing today's prayer, it came to mind one reading in the Bible about how some things were done in old testament times.  How during the harvest time, those that owned land or had a harvest would never harvest 100% of their crops.  They would always leave some to share with the poor.  It is a very kind act that speaks volumes.  Those who are blessed are able and should share with the less fortunate.  When God blesses us, we are to bless others.  Trust God who gives in the first place and who surely rewards.  It is in helping others { no strings attached} that we also help ourself.

Matthew 25:42-45 reads, For I was hungry, and you didn't feed me.  I was thirsty, and you didn't give me anything to drink. I was a stranger, and you didn't invite me into your home.  I was naked, and you gave me no clothing.  I was sick and in prison, and you didn't visit me.   Then they will reply, "Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?"  And he will answer, "I assure you, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me. "

Father God,

We are thankful for the privilege of living in Nigeria where we have freedom to worship the true and living God.  We ask that the eyes of each citizen of our country who know and love you, turn the hearts of people to honor and towards following you only.  Great I Am, as believers, let us join one another throughout the land in transforming Nigeria through the love of God.

Only you can do it and we praise and serve you alone.  Father, we thank you for hearing and answering our prayers.

All for your glory, we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We are redeemed from the curse through the blood of Jesus Christ, amen! (Galatians 3:13)

I received this devotional via email from Bishop KAB, and thought to share his message with all of you.

Faith in God

One way to grow in your walk with God is to never allow the things you've learned in the Word of God to get away from you. When you are introduced to more truth from the Bible, take it and add it to what you're now walking in. What you already know is a foundation on which to build. Therefore, don't throw away or forget the old. New truth does not negate the old. It is but another brick to add to the strong foundation of your spiritual house.

To walk in the blessings of God you must have faith. Therefore, it is important that we hold on to our faith and not let it slip away from us. Paul said that we ought to give more earnest heed to the truths we have already heard. He said we ought to pay more attention to what we already know.  In other words, what we know, we don't throw away. We are always going to need faith. And we're always going to have to deal with the ramifications of the words from our mouth whether we know it or not. And let me say to you, when you let these things slip away - when you let them get away from you - you pay the price.

So often people learn something, then they move on to something else and forget about what they've already learned. You should always be adding to the house, so to speak. This way, when the trials of life come they won't even be able to shake you. You'll stand strong in the Word of God.

Hebrew 2:1-4 reads:

So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.  The message God delivered through angels has always proved true, and the people were punished for every violation of the law and every act of disobedience.  What makes us think that we can escape if we are indifferent to this great salvation that was announced by the Lord Jesus himself?  It was passed on to us by those who heard him speak, and God verified the message by signs and wonders and various miracles and by giving gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose to do so.

Elohim, let us continue to examine ourselves according to your words and your standard.  It is our desire to walk the path you have for us and never forget the things that you have taught us.  Whether it be stealing, deceit, trickery, bitterness, resentment, envy, covetousness, jealousy, ill-competition, low self-esteem, etc. that has been allowed to reach the heart and blinds people to take it out on the innocent and hurt innocent people, Lord Jesus root out all, let their motives come from you...in your Holy name Jesus Christ, amen.

Father God, let your will reign in the newest country formed, the Republic of Sudan, in Jesus name, amen.

Heavenly Father,

We kneel before you in thanksgiving for who you are and for everything you have done for us.  You love us so much and gave grace to us, though we are so stubburn at times.  We give you the highest praise...hallelujah!  There is no one like you.  Today, we pray for your supernatural protection for each member of the military and their family.  And for those who truly are upholding truth and justice by your standards, in Jesus name.  Please bless and provide for their needs in everyway, as they protect the nation.  Also, uplift their families and provide for their needs...in Jesus name.  May all false burdens placed on people. leaders or churches be removed in Jesus name, amen.

Romans 8:24-25 says,
Now that we are saved, we earerly look forward to this freedom.  For if you already have something, you don't need to hope for it. But if we look forward to something we don't have yet, we must wait patiently and confidently.

This weekend I found some 9ja Christian movies online.  I looked before and could only find little, but this weekend I found three nice ones on www.youtube.com.  The names are, Fiwajomi, Running Against the Wind and Waiting For Time.  Oh my goodness, they all are so very uplifting and encouraging!

Abba,

We are so grateful for the powerful indwelling of the Holy Spirit, who equips us to live a righteous life.  Apart from the Holy Spirit, no one can live a godly life.  We pray that all of us who is praying for Lagos and Nigeria everywhere, will learn how to rely on the Spirit rather than ourselves.  Lord, please give us wisdom and favor, as we seek to share the gospel where ever we find ourselves.  May we never let go of your hand...in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savioir, amen.

Romans 12:9 reads:
Don't just pretend that you love others.  Really love them.  Hate what is wrong.  Stand on the side of the good.

The Best Kind of Encouragement
So they sat down with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his grief was very great.   (Job 2:13)

When Jesus entered the Garden of Gethsemane, He told the disciples, "Sit here while I go and pray over there" (Matthew 26:36). Then He handpicked Peter, James, and John to go with Him.

Notice that Jesus did not say, "Explain this to Me," because He didn't need an explanation. He was God, after all. Nor did He say, "Preach to Me," because He certainly didn't need a sermon. He just wanted His friends to stay with them.

Jesus was lonely. Though God and yet man, He was experiencing cosmic, epic loneliness, and He was asking for a little companionship.

This is a reminder that when someone is suffering, one of the best things we can do is just be there. Galatians 6:2 tells us, "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."

When Job's world fell apart and he lost everything that was dear to him in a matter of hours, his wife only added insult to injury when she said, "Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!" (Job 2:9). Imagine that on a greeting card.

But Job had three friends who showed up, and when they saw Job covered in boils and despondent, they just sat with him and cried. And that was the best thing they could have done for him.

That is often what people really need when they are suffering—someone to just weep with them. We don't always need to have the answers. The fact of the matter is that we rarely do.

When someone is hurting or suffering, we can actually cause more pain when we try to give people answers. It has been said, "Preach the gospel, and when necessary, use words." Sometimes the best thing you can do is just be there.

Prince of peace, King of kings and Lord of lords...let us always remember this.  Jehovah, we thank you for your love and grace.  Let our minds be renewed in your ways, in Jesus name, amen.

2 Timothy 2:5-6 reads,

Follow the Lord's rules for doing his work, just as an athlete either follows the rules or is disqualified and wins no prize.  Hardworking farmers are the first to enjoy the fruit of their labor.
