I found this rather long but very emotionally disturbing article on the online version of sunday Punch of July 31, 2011, and felt it will be useful to share it here.

Bimbo and Dada were supposedly head over heels in love with each other, things went on fine until Bimbo began to notice that her fiancé, who she was soon to walk down the aisle with, was exhibiting signs that elicited cause for concern. Dada began making up excuses for everything-would not pick her calls, would return them either or even call her. Confronted with this, he denied, insisting that Bimbo was getting paranoid over nothing. She soon found an answer to the disturbing trend—he was seeing not one but two women at the same time—and this was just four months to their wedding. To even think was she was two months pregnant!
She couldn’t understand what had come over him and why he was bent on destroying everything they had nurtured together. Dada soon gave her a piece of his mind—he was no longer interested in the wedding and wanted to opt out. He agreed to play his role in the upbringing of the child but wanted nothing to do with her. He gave no reason for his abrupt decision and wasn’t ready to listen to logical reasoning.
To say that Bimbo was devastated would be just putting it mildly, her world came crashing but in the midst of the storm, her baby kept her going. To keep her sanity, she relocated to England and remarried. She shielded her daughter, Feyisayo, from her father who stopped seeing to his daughter’s welfare after she clocked five.
Fast track 27 years later. Feyisayo has grown to become a lovely young woman and a professional orthodontist. She was dating one of the most eligible Nigerian bachelors in London, Pedro, who not only worshipped her but was ready to spend the rest of his life with her. A day for family introductions was set. It was easy for Feyisayo whose parents live in London. Pedro’s mother lived in London but his father shuttled back and forth.
They were able to find a way round it; the timing was fixed to coincide with when Pedro’s father would be in Queen’s land. As pleasantries were being exchanged between Feyisayo’s father and Pedro’s parents, Feyisayo’s mother, Bimbo was forced to abandon what she was doing in the kitchen to attend to her would be in-laws. What she saw stopped her. Dada was in her sitting room, grinning from ear to ear. On seeing her, the grin immediately disappeared. Bimbo demanded to know what he was doing in her house, to which he responded that he was Pedro’s father.
That was the first shocker that made her slump. When she got revived and all explanations were made, she slumped a second time when Feyisayo announced to the bewildered guests that she was already two months pregnant for Pedro. How disheartening it was for everyone. The problem now is how to solve the knotty but delicate issue. How do you think they can get out of the mess created by circumstances and irresponsibility on the part of Dada?
