Guys, regards to you all. I have been informed of another issue I want u all 2 share ur wise opinions with me.

An Igbo lady studied law at the University and was lucky 2 graduate at an early age, so she went on to get her masters, did her Bar exams and was just planning 2 get in for her PhD when her Extended family screamed with an Ultimatum "Get Married or Else or else...". No woman should be unmarried at your age (at this time she was just under 31). She didn't pay them much attention until they started putting pressure on her parents and holding meetings behind her parents back.....
They kept asking what she was getting all the education for and that too much book was not good 4 a woman. Anyway, its really bad 4 her now because they have managed 2 incite her immediate family against her saying its evil spirit and now she is being threatened 2 choose between going 4 her PhD or getting married.
What should she do? Fellows you all can comment now....

That's culture for you. But really, I think it's timid behavior at work. It's really up to the woman. No one should pressure her into doing something she doesn't want to do. Maybe she hasn't found someone she feels she can settle down with. Meanwhile on her education, THERE IS ABSOULUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT! If she is lucky, she may even find someone who will support her all the way. Also, one has to bear in mind that marriage is not for everyone!! (Not speaking directly about her since I don't know the person in question)

Gone are the days when parents influenced or forced their children to marry early or
marry a person of their (parent's) choice. I think the lady should follow her heart and
reach for the sky by going for her PhD. With such educational achievement, she
will attract a lot of good men.

Its wrong for her to go into Marriage when she is not ready for it, A woman is supposed to b in her husband's house at least b4 d age of 30, acc to African Culture....but we forget that Marriage is a lifetime thing....one has to be fully prepared for it, its not meant 2 be rushed in2...she should take her time n also keep watch of her biological clock...

I just pity her watin she dey use all the education 4, at the end she go end up inside kitchen. The education she hard, i think is enof for her. ladies get old faster than guys, u can't compeer a lady @ 30 to a guy @ 35 i bet u the guy will look more younger dan her. i know fully well that guys don't go for ladies who facial looks is older than there own, instead they go for young girls @ the age of 25. so plz b4 it is too late go and get married.  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Guy, I don't really think u believe what u just wrote. She won't be very happy 2 read ur comment, though I will forward it 2 her (cos that is my agreement with her). She is currently fighting it out with her family on the pain of being ostracized. Besides, who mentioned that all her degrees will end up in the kitchen, sorry that is no more obtainable. Its her decision, if she would have a career or get married. So try not 2 be myopic...

Ideal time to marry for women should be around 25 or 31 in worst case scenario.

Men can marry at anytime before 35/38 too.

Exended family or family no body has the right to tell her  when to get married is her business she can even decided not to get married at all. The choice is hers and hers alone.
