1ST CLASS SHOULD NOT BE A YARDSTICK 4 EMPLOYMENT IN THIS COUNTRY. MAKE IT OPEN WETHER PASS OR ANYTHING, COME AND WRITE THE EXAMS. IF U PASS U 'RE THE 1ST CLASS STUDENT NOT BY PAPER. THEY USE TO BUY IT EITHER IN CASH OR IN KIND IN OUR HIGHER INSTITUTN. THAT IS MY CANDID ADVICE. Reply

This is has been happening in recent. Yes, a similar written test conducted by a manufacturing company revealed similar thing, out of over forty candidates that sat for the exam, few figure above ten passed the test and ten out of them are HND holders and 4 BSC holders, non of the so called 1st class candidates scaled through the written test. Just too bad. Reply

I have said before that paper qualification is not the true test of knowledge. Some of them used their bodies to succeed while some sorted their way, some some made good grade because they are related to the people that command authority both within the school & in the society at large.Employers of labour should conduct an internal exam. Coming out to boost of 1st class or 2-1, but in real life they cant cope with "1st class situations". Am not suprise.majority of d ![]() ![]() Quote Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Austen Oniwon disclosed yesterday that 80 per cent of the first class and second class upper graduates scored less than 20 per cent in the just concluded recruitment examination conducted by the company. Austen Oniwon who stated this at the opening ceremony of the 9th NNPC National Quiz Competition in Abuja confessed that the result of the recruitment exercise was far below expectations as most graduates with the best grades performed woefully. Represented by the Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Dr Levi Ajuonuma, the NNPC Boss added that the performance of these graduates has heightened the management’s apprehension about the lack of functionality of the country’s educational sector and given more reasons to shift focus from mere paper qualifications. The Group Managing Director said relying on people to secure employment in the organisation was now a thing of the past stressing that the NNPC now placed emphasis on what individuals have to offer(Intelligence). The NNPC Boss also made reference to the recently recorded mass failure in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE), he made the call for an urgent review in the educational sector. In the United States, grades are not considered in most cases, rather what you have to offer....Nigeria should learn this and allow everybody to sit for interview without placing specifications on who to apply. ReplyMany 3rd class holders are wonderful, but in most cases, there are always no space for them to apply let alone sitting for the interview....The most successful men in the United Sates are drop outs, no even pass in their certificate...make a research!!!
