Too bad many students use their body and money to make good grades from university. Coming out to boost of 1st class or 2-1, but in real life they cant cope with "1st class situations".

Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Austen Oniwon disclosed yesterday that 80 per cent of the first class and second class upper graduates scored less than 20 per cent in the just concluded recruitment examination conducted by the company.
Austen Oniwon who stated this at the opening ceremony of the 9th NNPC National Quiz Competition in Abuja confessed that the result of the recruitment exercise was far below expectations as most graduates with the best grades performed woefully.
Represented by the Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Dr Levi Ajuonuma, the NNPC Boss added that the performance of these graduates has heightened the management’s apprehension about the lack of functionality of the country’s educational sector and given more reasons to shift focus from mere paper qualifications.
The Group Managing Director said relying on people to secure employment in the organisation was now a thing of the past stressing that the NNPC now placed emphasis on what individuals have to offer(Intelligence).
The NNPC Boss also made reference to the recently recorded mass failure in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE), he made the call for an urgent review in the educational sector.
This reminds me of Nigerian female rapper Kel that was caught cheating back then:

The so called first class graduate fail woefully then who will scale the NNPC huddle?
having a first class doesnt necessarily mean intelligence as you know, money can buy virtually everything in nigeria so where an empty first class student fails, a student with a 2-2 or even a 3rd who has something upstairs will scale through. nigerian certificate is quickly becoming worthless and irrelevant, what a pity!

Shame on the Nigerian government and the ministry of education!all they can do is to steal our money and later send their children abroad to study cos they know the system of education in Nigeria has collapsed...every sector in Nigeria is corrupt...I don't know of a country in Europe where a student will finish with first class and he/she won't be able to defend the result...

As for 2-1 graduates which is upper credit, u might be right. I doubt 80% of 1st class failing the exams. @poster, i think these guys could not afford the bribe money demanded from them to secure the job. As a result of this, they might deliberately failed them. Nope; it is my own opinion and it shouldn't be generalize.
