I WOULD BE THE LAST PERSON TO STAND BETWEEN MY SON/DAUGHTER AND WHOMSOEVER HE/SHE WANTS TO MARRY IRRESPECTIVE OF THE RACE/TRIBE!................THE ONE BIG DIFFERENCE THAT I HAVE NOTICED WITH INTER-RACIAL MARRIAGES THOUGH IS THIS:

WHEN AN "OYINBO" MAN/WOMAN SAYS "IT IS OVER" THEIR WORD IS FINAL, THERE WILL BE NO " FRIENDS, FAMILLY MEMBERS COMING TO BEG THE OFFENDED SPOUSE TO FORGIVE AND FORGET AND EVEN IF THERE WERE, HER/HIS ANSWER STILL WILL BE "NO!!!

IN OUR NIGERIAN SOCIET ON THE CONTRARY, WHENEVER "WAR" LOOMS OVER A MARRIED COUPLE, FRIENDS, RELATIVES AND EVEN VILLAGE ELDERS WILL COME TOGETHER TO SEE THAT THE MARRIAGE DOES NOT HIT THE ROCKS! THE "OFFENDED WILL BE BEGGED, CAJOLED OR EVEN  "BRIBED WITH GIFTS ETC,ETC, INORDER TO LET THE PAST BE AND MAKE  A NEW START!

BUT UNFORTUNATELY, THE WAY WE NIGERIANS CARRY THIS "NA WETIN BE YOUR TRIBE" THING, IT WOULD SOMETIMES SEEM EASIER TO MARRY A EUROPEAN THAN GETTING OVER THE HUDDLES OF  MARRYING OUTSIDE YOUR TRIBE, AND THIS IS A SAD  Sad Sad :(FACT"""

I've noticed here in the states that Nigerians tend to be against interracial relationships and marriages.  I'm not sure what the perception is in Nigeria but it's clear that here in America a majority of the migrant Nigerian population is against allowing their children to marry outside of their race.  We can argue about divorce rates, family respect, and all the other circumstances and excuses that are used to counter-attack interracial relationships but my question is why are most of our people so against it other than pure racist tendencies?

I've heard many different sides to this but no one is yet to give me a valid, logical explanation for it.  Some individuals from other ethnic groups have this narrow-mindedness as well, especially many indians and people of asian and hispanic cultures.  In my opinion, it all seems foolish.  If someone is in love and has the financial, academic, and psychological maturity and security to do so, why stop them simply because their partner is not of the same racial or ethnic group?  A quote from an unknown author I read states:  "Supremacists can never make a sound argument using logic and fact because the premise of the superiority of any race in itself is illogical and based on lies."  Any thoughts regarding this issue?

This topic will always be up for debate, however at the end of the day people have to live their own life and do whats best for them. I personally am not attracted to people with skin much lighter than mines however I do not have a problem interracial dating as I am a product of such. I am thankful to God for bringing my parents together.
