Hey could you please point me in the direction of your source of research that supplied you the data to consult your "about 80%"?? I actually know lots of individuals who are in successful interracial relationships but won't resort to (falsified or created) statistics to support that. They work out because both individuals love one another and are open minded enough not to make generalizations about other races as well as accept the other individual's culture. Regardless of where someone is from or what culture they belong to, if there is love, understanding and the willingness to make something work...it can.

I will never advice Nigerians to marry  non Nigerian ( white ) . Because i've done it before (married oyinbo ) but i will never do it again bcos is not worth it and is not gonna work out . About 80% of our Nigerians people  here (Australia)that married white never last and they end up divorce and paying child support  and white woman end up take everything that belong to them . Because only favour women. So i've learn my lesson now and i'm now appreciate  our Nigerian girls  and we Nigerians know how to resolve problems  between ouselves. So i will advice everyone not to try it bcos is not gonna work out.

I've noticed here in the states that Nigerians tend to be against interracial relationships and marriages.  I'm not sure what the perception is in Nigeria but it's clear that here in America a majority of the migrant Nigerian population is against allowing their children to marry outside of their race.  We can argue about divorce rates, family respect, and all the other circumstances and excuses that are used to counter-attack interracial relationships but my question is why are most of our people so against it other than pure racist tendencies?

I've heard many different sides to this but no one is yet to give me a valid, logical explanation for it.  Some individuals from other ethnic groups have this narrow-mindedness as well, especially many indians and people of asian and hispanic cultures.  In my opinion, it all seems foolish.  If someone is in love and has the financial, academic, and psychological maturity and security to do so, why stop them simply because their partner is not of the same racial or ethnic group?  A quote from an unknown author I read states:  "Supremacists can never make a sound argument using logic and fact because the premise of the superiority of any race in itself is illogical and based on lies."  Any thoughts regarding this issue?

i will never allowed my sons to marry an akata woman or women...reasons because they lack respect and are not well trained.also, they don't know the basic knowledge of what marriage is ;Dmarriage to dem is define as divorce or child support.additionally,is just between them both no family or families .but in nigeria,as a nigera woman or man...you are will taught what marriage is,not just you and your hubby but your family and your husband family.what i  meant is that, when a naija woman get married...she know that she is not only married to her  husband but also all her hhusband families..and she will treats  dem like she will treats her own family...however,marriage in nigeria is between two families..they but come together as one and when there is problem in that marriage they both also come together to solve the problem ...and they are not in support of divorce.meanwhile,no matter how nigeria man/woman is educated he/shestill carry on the tradition...he/she still practice it...its already built in us that  cannot leave.a naija man need a woman who can prepare that delicious egusi soup with correct pounded yam....not a woman that will prepare or what for her man to come back from work and say honey let order mcdonalds...hope i answer you tho.
Girl, you don't know what you are talking about, you are stereotyping. Its simply because you see T.V. shows or probably you know someone that are white and act a certain way that you don't like, but in reality is, there are so many white girls who are respectable, know what marriage is and they are really good. The reaso why I amm saying this is because I have many female white girls. So stop the streotyping and get your facts straight. And by the way,you are pinning it on white girls, I can tell you so many nigerian girls I know that are wayward and irresponsible towards marriage,so its not only white girls.
My dear, pls do u tink Nigerians or Africans or the only ones who get gud
home training??! Beliv wetin i tell u, i don see many Nigerians who act like bastards too, no knowledge
no hometraining, nottin!
Please we have many 'white ppl' who had a GREAT hometraining, and they know the meaning of marriage.
We also hav ppl who are in marriage for over 40 years.

It is not as if Nigerians don't like inter-racial marriage or relationships, the only reason they opt out sometimes is that A Nigerian man wouldn't like his child to remain in another man's land without coming home. What I mean in essence is this, in a situation where a man that married an foreigner dies in another mans land, his children will remain there because the wife will never allow them to come home. So, for this reason, they prefer marrying from home so that if anything happens, their family will be able to see his children and relate with them. There is one place that I know in Igbo land, when their son marries in abroad and dies without bringing his children home, the children shall always be sick and dreaming of their father's village until they are brought home. And if they are not brought home, the children will die over there. The reason is that they made an a covenant that their blood will never remain in another mans land without coming home. And even the Bible says that you should marry from your lineage.

HEY REPNIGERIA I DONT KNOW IF AMERICA HAS INFECTED YOU WITH THEIR 'I DONT CARE CULTURE',YOU SAY THAT YOU DONT LIKE THE WORD 'AKATA'
MAYBE YOU WERE BORN THERE OR YOU WENT THERE A LONG TIME.ALL I WANT TO SAY IS THAT NIGERIA RESPECTS PEOPLE AND MARRIAGE.WHEN THERE IS PROBLEM IN MARRIAGE ITS A DIFFERENT ISSUE BUT WE RESPECT MARRIAGE AND NO MATTER AND NO MATTER HOW FUNNY YOU THINK I STILL RESPECT NIGERIAN MARRIAGE BECAUSE WHEN A MAN HAS PROBLEM WITH HIS WIFE BOTH FAMILIES COMES TO PUT THEM BACK IN TRACK BUT THE WESTERN PEOPLE WILL CONCLUDE IT WITH DIVORCE BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE ITS NOT WORKING ANYMORE.THEY ABUSE MARRIAGE AND THATS WHY THEY BRING IN ALL ABOMINABLE PRACTICES LIKE HOMOSEXUALITY AND Lesbianism.
IAM NOT IN NIGERIA AND I MUST GET MARRIED TO A NIGERIAN WOMAN WHEN EVER AM READY FOR MARRIAGE

Actually, I was born in Nigeria.  Yes I understand your points but once again you say "Western" in which case I'm assuming you're referring to only Nigerian-White coupling/marriage.  There are sooooo many other cultures besides just white people.  I have indian and asian friends whose cultures also involve bringing both families together whenever there are marital issues.  Once again, as I said before, the nigerian standards of marriage aren't limited to Nigerians only.  I won't get into the subject of homosexuality for the simple fact that it's a touchy subject and far too complex to go into but trust me, people who have failed marriages don't just wake up one day and decide that they're homosexuals all of a sudden.  It's funny that you say Nigerians come together to solve marital problems because a family friend and his wife were contemplating divorce and after the entire nigerian community wasted their time and breath for about 6 months they still divorced anyway!  Family/community involvement helps but it does not guarantee marital stability or happiness.

I dont know where the poster got her facts from. Most of the Nigerians in the States
encourage their chilren to marry from Naija but cannot force them to do so. In addition
to that, Nigerians are married to people from different cultures, and all walks of life.

I don't know which area of the U.S. you're living in, but where I'm at, Nigerians are actually trying to get their kids to ONLY consider marrying other nigerians.  Yes, I understand and am very knowledgeable about the fact that Nigerians marry people from different cultures.  My aunt is married to a white man and my cousin has a child with a Mexican woman.  The point of this discussion was to get other perspectives on why the older generation is against Nigerian and non-Nigerian mating.  That's all.
