Planned Removal of Oil Subsidy: What Do You Say?

As has been widely reported in the media, the government of Nigeria plans to remove fuel subsidy by next year.  Presently, the government is said to be subsidizing each litre of fuel to the tune of 79 naira.  The government has been reported to have said that Nigeria would save about 1.2 Trillion Naira per year if the subsidy is removed.  This money, we are told, is to be used to get our infrastructures working.

I am wondering, is this the only way to get money to build infrastructures in Nigeria?  If you check very well, this (oil subsidy)seems to be the only thing the poor masses enjoy.  Is this action not a case of putting the cart before the horse?  Why must we import what we produce?  Why are the refineries not working to capacity?  Who is/are stopping the refineries from working?  Why cant the government get the refineries working before thinking of removing the subsidy?......

I think there are other ways to get money to build our infrastructures...........get the agricultural sector back on its feet.  Cut down on the jumbo salaries and allowances of these office holders from the head to the toe.........and lets see if we would not get more than that amount each year!..........

So do you agree with the government's plan?

Ever since the Mend have stoped harasing the oil workers, the production of oil has risen over 10x, so whats holding the dog to die. Where is the money going? Thats the question. How come the government doesnt have any plan B in their system. So if by tomorrow n our oil WELLS happend to be dry n no more digging of oil then what will happen to us. There are many countries that doesnt have oil but are way better than Nigeria. We should start looking for other things apart from that oil....
