No one should see him or herself as being above the law. Nothing wrong with opening your boot and identifying yourself if so requested. Law enforcement agents should also show some restraints in dealing with the people they are paid to protect. Its really ridiculous seeing pictures like this with uniformed officers exchanging blows on the street, Where is the discipline they are meant to show to common civilians like myself ??? Baffling indeed ! " If its not for love - its for nothing " [/size]

the army captain should have opened his booth. what's the big deal in complying. he can as well be a boko haram arms supplier. after all the guns and bomb used by boko haram is gotten from the army. na him do himself. ReplyYou are very correct. HE should have obeyed the command just like every other motorists. At the same time, the Naija Police are found of abusing their position as law enforcement people that ought to protect the citizens. I am very sure that something would come down upon those police that molested the army officer sooner or later. I also say RIP to them in advance. One thing is that I hope the innocent police men would not be the one to take the results of the stupid ones that committed the crime of beating just like they always do to citizines.

The thing sef tire me too... what's the big deal in complying? and besides he was not wearing his uniform, so what's the big deal with opening his boot for inspection? unless of course he was hiding something in there... some people just like to show off unnecessarily. who lost at the end?

Quote from: sugaDaddy1forU on 10-11-2011 05:42 AM ![]() Some policemen on duty during the Eid-el Kabir have beaten up a Nigerian Army Captain while his seven months pregnant wife was similarly manhandled and allegedly called her a ‘prostitute.’ The incident which caused panic and anger happened at the popular Gidan Mai Roundabout on Sunday at about 7 pm, throwing the entire area into confusion. A relative of the victims said the Captain who was in mufti and in company with his wife in his car reached the police checkpoint and was ordered by the policemen on duty to open his boot for checking just like other motorists. The relative said further that the captain who was stopped by the policemen and demanded for his vehicle particulars tried to explain to them that he was an officer in the Nigeria army.dey should lock those policemen for 45days nd put dem on duty 4 d rest of their service in d police force “The next thing he saw was several policemen descended on him and started beating him. It was later that the police learnt that he was a senior army officer,” he said. However, another eye witness who was driving from GRA at the time of the incident told our correspondent that the policemen were provoked because the wife was not pleased with the way her husband was being mishandled. “I think the policemen were not in their best elements because the man was beaten out of sheer provocation and even when he tried to identify himself. They were insulting his wife, who I believe they did not know was his wife. I later learnt she was pregnant. What annoyed many people was when the wife was abused and even rough handled as she tried to stop them, from beating her husband.” via Daily Sun
