A lawmaker in the Oyo State House of Assembly (names withheld) is currently battling to save his reputation before security agencies.

The vehicle, a Nissan Civilian bus, according to sources, had been stolen from its owner, said to be a technician, in Lagos some months back.

The Oyo lawmaker, a member of a new political party, was said to have taken custody of the vehicle which had been repainted, number changed and he begun to use.

Security sources said trouble started for the legislator when the owner of the bus sighted it one day while riding on a motorcycle.

He was said to have recognized some parts of the vehicle where he had carried out some repairs.

Sunday Tribune further learnt that the owner of the vehicle silently followed it until it got to a police check point where he raised the alarm and besought policemen to stop the bus for a search.

Further investigation traced the bus to the lawmaker. It was further learnt that the embattled lawmaker is making every effort to make the owner of the bus to accept that the matter be settled amicably, though that matter is said to be before a station of the state police command already.
