Abia State Government Signs Agreement to Pay N20,100 Minimum Wage

The Abia government on Tuesday signed an agreement with the organized labour for a N20,100 minimum wage for its workers.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS), Prof. Mkpa Mkpa, led the government officials during the signing of the new wage in his office.

A release signed by Mr Ugochukwu Emezue, the Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Theodore Orji, stated that the payment of the new wage would take effect from Dec. 1, 2011.

The release further stated that the arrears of the minimum wage would commence from January 2012 and would span 12 months...
